AQUA SLIM R454C ground source heat pump in a plant room with borehole loops

AQUA SLIM R454C

AQUA SLIM R454C

AQUA SLIM is a ground source heat pump from GSI for homes and small commercial buildings, designed and built in Italy. It works with closed loop boreholes or a groundwater source and provides heating, cooling and, on MAGIS models, domestic hot water. There are two sizes: 6 kW and 11 kW.

The pumps, valves, expansion vessels and other plant room components are built into the cabinet, so the unit connects straight to the heating system and fits into a small plant room. It is also a good replacement for an old boiler or heat pump, because the existing pipework, radiators or underfloor heating can stay as they are.

Steady output in any weather

Ground and groundwater temperatures change very little through the year, so output and efficiency hold up in cold spells. The SCOP is 5.53 (6 kW) and 5.59 (11 kW) on a ground loop, rising to 7.79 and 7.6 on groundwater. The inverter compressor modulates between 20 and 100% to match demand, and the R454C refrigerant has a global warming potential of 146.

Hot water from recovered heat

With MAGIS, heat recovered from the compressor heats domestic hot water to 70°C while the unit heats or cools the building.

GSI CLOUD stores 13 months of operating data for remote monitoring and diagnostics, and the optional AIER meter lets the heat pump use surplus solar PV power for hot water or heating. Up to six units can run in cascade for larger buildings.
